Bible Society’s Resources – Centenary Of The End Of Ww1

This November marks the centenary of the Armistice that ended the First World War, and the Bible Society has a range of resources for primary and secondary ages groups to explore the issues around the 'war to end all wars'.

An illustrated collection of psalms, poems, prayers and stories to aid reflection about World War One, 'Hear My Cry ', is available for £1.50, and a series of lesson plans for primary and secondary groups are available for free download

The series of secondary lesson plans is based on the book, and was designed by teachers of RE and Philosophy, particularly for students visiting the War Graves and trenches. The topics and activities are designed to stimulate deep thought and discussion, and cover issues such as teenage soldiers, pacifism and the morality of war.

The lesson plans for 5-7 year-olds aim to help younger children to gain an understanding of World War One and to to learn about individual soldiers' experiences, using Hear My Cry.

See the range of resources on the Bible Society's website.

A World War One microsite offers further stories and resources, including thoughts on peace and lives changed forever.
