I updated my facebook status the other day asking for ideas for a new logo for the chaplaincy and got a mixed response from friends in chaplaincy and youth ministry...

Have you done it?

What kind of thing have you done?

Is it a good idea to boost the visibility of the chaplaincy?

Is it an unnecessary corporatization of something that shouldn't really go in for that kinda stuff?

I found that it really helped this site when we put some money into having decent logos designed. Logos capture people's imagination and tell people that it's a fresh thing which cares about how it comes across.

I say, go for it...

As for what it will look like, I'll leave that one to somebody with some artistic ability!!
