Finally appointed!
« on: July 20, 2012, 08:06:31 AM »
I've been volunteering in a chaplaincy role at my local RC college for some time now and after an arduous 2hr interview yesterday, I have finally been appointed to the Lay Chaplain post! As far as schools go, I think it is quite challenging for me to cut my chaplaincy teeth on as it has nrealy 2000 pupils, a sixth form, significant Muslim population and a relatively low practicing Catholic population plus it is the result of merging two schools together and they are fully integrated on a new site from September! Other than that, I'm feeling quite confident :-\

Jack, I'd like to access the private board now if I could? I think I may well need to sound people out on lots of things over the next 12 months!

That's no problem.

I need an E-mail from you from a school address or a school phone number where I can reach you to confirm.

PM me ;D

Sorry to be so sticky about this, but once you get in there you'll see why we have to make ultra sure that everyone is verified!!

And, Congratulations  ;D

Thank you both. I've messaged you Jack. I'm not back in school until September now so verification will have to wait until then.

I was hoping not to have to show that tattoo to anyone ;)

In the meantime I'm off to Lourdes next week and will be looking for some inspiration. Our school houses have been named after pilgrimage destinations with Lourdes being one of them. The others are Santiago, Assisi, Nazareth and Walsingham. As the new chaplain I feel the need to suggest that we perhaps develop a rolling programme of visits and obviously I would need to go!

Excellent. We're there on 31st after spending a few days meandering down through France. We should overlap by a couple of days so I'll keep an eye out for you when we arrive! We're doing Tuesday to Tuesday this year? Apparently to do with organising the train.
