This position maintains responsibility for high school and middle school youth ministry (currently using Lifeteen and Edge models for programming), adolescent faith formation, and Sacramental preparation for Confirmation.

Job Responsibilities:

For high-school youth ministry:

•   Coordinate regular celebration of the Eucharist geared toward teens and that encourages their involvement in ministerial roles

•   Develop and implement regular programming (social, educational, and spiritual) for teens; develop and implement occasional programming/activities to reach out to unchurched teens or teens not actively involved in their faith

•   Maintain and continually enhance a peer ministry program that enables teens to witness to others

•   Attend Mass with teens and maintain regular presence at hospitality events in the parish and the larger community
For middle-school youth ministry:

•   Collaborate with Assistant Youth Ministry Coordinator to develop and implement programming (social, educational, and spiritual) for middle-school youth, including those who are actively involved, those who are not, and those who are unchurched

•   Develop and implement programming to begin the process of welcoming middle-school youth to active participation in the life of the parish
For adolescent faith formation:

•   Collaborate with Director of Religious Education and Curriculum Coordinator to develop and implement a religious education program for youth in grades 7 through 12

•   Recruit, train, and insure ongoing formation for volunteer catechists
For Confirmation preparation:

•   Collaborate with Pastor to coordinate all aspects of Confirmation preparation, including: outreach to youth eligible to receive the Sacrament; small-group meetings to prepare candidates; training and formation of catechists; coordination of retreat; parent and sponsor preparation; candidate interviews; coordination of Confirmation Liturgy
Financial Responsibility:

•   Prepare annual budget; track expenditures and income; engage in fundraising initiatives to support program needs
Relationship Management:

•   Maintains and fosters close working relationship with: the parish at large, all pastoral staff, Pastoral Council, parish Finance Council; other parishes within the area; relevant Archdiocesan staff
Child and Youth Protection:

•   Insure that all volunteers are screened and trained according to the guidelines of the Archdiocesan Office of Child and Youth Protection.

Qualifications:

•   Must be a practicing Catholic fully able to participate in the Sacramental life of the Church

•   Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Education, or related field, and/or prior experience in parish youth ministry and/or religious education programming is desirable

•   Outstanding organizational, relational, communication, and time management skills

•   Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products; familiarity with the appropriate use of technology, including social networking, to promote participation in programs and activities

•   Demonstrated commitment to personal ongoing development in the Catholic faith
