Job Description

Our youth are hungry to explore their relationship with the Lord. They are eager to engage in a community of faith that will nourish them spiritually and give them opportunities to integrate into the parish, reach out in service to others, and share the joy of the Lord. Through liturgy, planned events, service projects, retreats, and other creative programs, the Youth Minister can build relationships with the youth, minister to their families and create an environment in the parish that supports a solid Catholic spirituality and vibrant community through word and deed.

About our Parish / School / Organization

Our Lady of Sorrows is a large ethnically diverse parish celebrating 100 years of faith in the Diocese of Vcitoria. Founded to serve the needs of the Hipanic community it now serves sevearl generations of families who have belonged to the parish for many years, the new immigrant community, and people from a varied background of cultures. We have a large Religious Education program (1000 students) which ensures a large pool of youth for the ministry. The youth ministry also includes a vibrant Ballet Folklorico, altar servers, retreats, outreach to the area schools, and integrating the youth into the life of the parish. Liturgies express the diversity of our parish and include a contemporary Life Teen band, a traditional choir, and sevearl Maraichi and traditional Spanish-language music groups. Working as part of a pastoral team, the Youth Minister will be responsible for the pastoral and administrative planning of the youth programs.
