Job Description

Saint Francis of Assisi parish was founded in 1990 and has grown to be a parish of over 3,300 families. We have about 700 teens registered in the parish, but only have about 100 of them involved in the different components of our youth program. The Parish Coordinator of Youth Ministry will be expected to:

* Recruit Volunteers to be part of the XTREME Youth Ministry Team

* Provide guidance & training to the adult volunteers

* Maintain the XTREME Youth Ministry Website and Facebook Account

* Recruit and encourage active teen participation in the XYM Programs & Activities

* Recruit teens and ensure they attend the Vicariate V Training to become Liturgical Ministers

* Work in conjunction with the Vicariate V Coordinator of Youth Ministry, by attending the OFCYM Monthly Meetings, to ensure that the XTREME Youth Ministry program remains connected the Archdiocesan Vision for Youth Ministry.

* Be Part of the South Suburban Youth Ministry Association (SSYMA), which is the organizing body of the inter-parish sport leagues.

* Oversee all teen involvement in parish programs & activities to ensure that Protecting God’s Children standards are maintained.

Job Qualifications – This Person Must: Be an active, practicing Catholic in Good standing, Have at least a bachelor’s degree in church ministry, theology, religious studies, religious education or equivalent in-field experience, Have a minimum of two years of experience, and be a mature person with strong Catholic values.

About our Parish / School / Organization

The XTREME Youth Ministry program at Saint Francis is a fairly young program, that was designed out of the USCCB's document Renewing the Vision. This is a multifaceted program that includes eight components, which are divided into two categories. Our Catechetical and Faith Formation Programs include: Catholicism 101 (Focuses on Morals & Church Doctrine), Decode the Message (Focuses on Liturgy & Scripture), Rooted: Discipleship Training (Focuses on Leadership Development & Pastoral Care), and our Movie & Discussion Club (Focuses on Popular Culture through media). The other half of the XTREME Youth Ministry consists of our Retreats & Socials, our inter-parish sports leagues (Basketball, Volleyball, and Softball), the Annual Passion Play, and of course our Outreach & Service opportunities.
