Job Description

Christ the King Catholic Church in Mesa, AZ, is seeking a half time Associate Music Director for a growing and culturally diverse parish of 2500 families. We are primarily an English speaking community, with a Pre-K through 8th grade school. We have many young families, and have a large number of winter parishioners who join us each year. We have a thriving Spanish population as well. This position will report to the Director of Music and is responsible for collaborating with the Director of Music, clergy, staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, musicians and the liturgy committee to plan, execute and evaluate parish liturgies and music. The associate will provide leadership at masses on Saturday evenings, Sunday mornings, and will be assist in all significant liturgical celebrations of the parish. Some coverage for the Music Director will be required.

Qualifications: The position requires excellent organizational skills, knowledge of or the ability to learn sound equipment operation, music software, video presentation software, and computers. Strong working knowledge of Catholic liturgy and liturgical documents, with two years of experience desired. Individual must have experience in ministry development and training of choirs and musicians. Bachelors Degree in Music is preferred, but not required. Applicant must have a strong singing voice, and ability to play piano.

We are a parish of 2500 families, with a Pre K through 8th grade school, a vibrant Spanish community, and a new perpetual adoration chapel. We are also a Life Teen parish, and our music ministry is active, and we do a variety of music from contemporary worship music to traditional hymns and chant.
