Movies to see... but not to use!

Every so often I see a movie which I don't really think has much to offer to youth ministry, but which nevertheless makes for an entertaining few hours for the restless youth worker on his/ her day off. Thanks to my new Netflix membership, I came across three such movies recently. They're all quite dark movies centred around crime and policing.

The Crew centres around a liverpool crime gang and the relationship between two brothers. One is level headed and experienced, while the other is reckless and wants to branch out on his own.

Streets of Blood stars Val Kimler - a massively under-used actor in my opinion - as a New Orleans cop in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. It also stars some chap called 'Fifty Cent.'

Finally, Blitz stars Jason Statham - a great actor who isn't under-used at all - as a tough cop trying to track down a serial killer of police officers. One thing I've always said is that there are very few great British cop movies. In fact, there are none! This isn't one either, but it comes pretty close. The movie looks pretty amateurish in its opening minutes, but stick with it. It's worthwhile!

Like I said, none of these movies are at all suitable for youth ministry. But, if you're bored...
