Useful Videos, Film & TV Clips / Re: Off to the Pictures...
« on: May 21, 2012, 03:49:32 PM »
LOVED the avengers!!! Also loved "Safe" on a purely entertainment/thriller kinda way. Jason Statham doing what he does best lol.

There are some clips from "Mirror Mirror" on www.wingclips.com that can be used in ministry

Def worth checking that out.

Wristbands are an excellent idea and all the rage at the moment! Our girls are not allowed wristbands so check that out before you get them in case they come back for 6th form and are not allowed to wear them.

Come, Holy Spirit

Try listening to this one. Might be too old fashioned??????

I was looking for one that Edwin Fawcett sang at Flame, but not sure what it's called. The words are just

Come Holy Spirit, Come Holy Spirit, Come Holy Spirit
Come breathe in us. Come breathe in us.

It was sung as a chant. As a last resort, call Ed and ask him directly.

Hope you find something :-)

I agree with a lot of what has been said. My main thoughts are that I have not encouraged girls to throw money at this and have warned them against donating to charities when we dont know how the money is being spent etc.
Raising awareness is an amazing thing and I thank the organisation for this but I have also warned the girls to be careful not to judge without knowing as many facts as possible.
And thirdly I have used the kony stuff to introduce a theme about making a difference and our responsibilites to take action when we see injustice. This dude in America who made the video that I saw is more or less nameless, but he has made a huge difference and reached out to people all over the world!! How empowering is that???!!! I brought out the points that with social networking etc look how easy it is to make a difference. Am also working with a year group to find a cause that they believe in and do something similar.
I think it is important to not just ignore this, but to do some good with it. And that does NOT nec mean just blindly following!

Is that mainly on the front page?

I think it's because there are just too many large pictures (large in file size, not physically) which are taking too long to load. I need to downsize them all a bit.

Or, if you're in school stuff might be blocked?

Yes it's ONLY on the front page. And yes I am in school so it might be that problem too.

I'm glad I was able to view your post as a guest and that showed me how to get on.

Am still seeing red crosses instead of pictures in some places. Any idea how to change that? ::)

I'd like us to pray for my two schools pls.

Both are Catholic girls schools and both are going for academy status from Sept. Whilst there is a lot of benefit from doing this (mainly funding), there are a lot of staff worried about their jobs and the future repurcussions (sp).

I'd like to pray for God's spirit of peace on this situation as well as clarity and transparency from the head and people in charge.

Thanks Lara, I'm gonna check it out now!

Good job! If you've had anything to do with making these. I really liked this one.

Loved it!

Is there one for young people instead of parents???

22
Shockingly enough, I dont like this at all  :(

I LOVE the text read out, I LOVE the concept of Jesus being in and amongst us, but I believe this is such a special and sacred thing and it upsets me to see people walking past, or sneering or laughing.

Just my personal opinion. I think a tent is different and I like that idea. Then people come because they are curious and they are free to leave again without causing offence. But this, I am not comfortable with.

Hi everyone,

My name is Cleo and I am a Secondary school chaplain. Been happily married for nearly 7 yrs now and am based in Romford, Essex. I'm 36 years old and I've been involved in Faith based youth work since I was 18.

I'm a total film and tv buff (as anyone who knows me will testify) and I love to use popular culture to spread the Gospel. So if anyone knows any good film clips or wants any good film clips to use with young people, let me know.

Anything else you wanna know, just ask! Am happy to talk to everyone and anyone :-)

God Bless

Cleo xxx
