General Catholic Youth Ministry Resources / Quick Conclave-y question
« on: March 11, 2013, 09:08:31 AM »
I've got into my head that the Cardinals pray one of the Holy Spirit sequences as they enter/towards the beginning of Conclave... Can anyone tell me which one it is please, or have I made that up from somewhere?!

Ta!!

Hi all,

Could anyone recommend a good course for those helping young people deal with bereavement? We've got so much going on at the moment, and I'm totally out of my depth. It's been suggested I get some training, which I'd appreciate, but I thought I'd ask whethe anyone has done similar and would recommend it?

Thanks all,
Clare

Hello lovely Chaplains :)

My HT has asked that I look at allocating themes to each week of our term, so that those creating assemblies have themes to work from.

Has anyone got something like this already that I could look at, as I need a few ideas!

Many thanks,
Clare :)

Not had the chance to look into it yet, but as it's not available forever, I thought I'd give you a heads up... comes in PDF, ePub and .mobi (for Kindle) formats :) Did I mention it's free? :D

I received this on Friday with my new subscription to Youthwork magazine, and just wanted to recommend it to others, both as a resource for youth workers and a gift for young people.

It's a really nice mix of prayers, and the language is very YP friendly, without being patronising or childish. There's a great mixture of traditional prayes (including some by the saints and at least one by a pope, which is a nice addition to a prayer book that hasn't come out of the Catholic tradition).

I'm thinking of getting a couple of copies to keep in our chapel, as it's very easy to pick up and get into, and I thought I'd pass on the tip to anyone looking for a good prayer book for young people. :)

Lent & Easter Resources / Another Lentern Calendar
« on: February 20, 2012, 09:58:42 AM »
As the Walk with Me people are still failing to make a resource suitable for secondary age pupils, we made our own this year.

It's not as fancy as the YCW one, but can be photocopied in B&W (we've done ours on purple paper, and are giving them to every pupil in the school!)

I've tried to export it to PDF but it's not working this morning. If people need a PDF version, I'll get our ICT man on the case, but for now, here's a Word version.  :)

ADMIN EDIT: Put on front page... Click through to the post to download.

I've been approached by one of our SLT this morning to help him prepare something on giving and tithing for a session on personal finance with the Sixth Form.

He's from an evangelical background, and the 10% tithe is very much part of his church structure. I think I need to sit down and have a conversation with him about what he wants, because we don't have the same concept of it being a hard and fast rule.

Any suggestions of helpful bits of Catholic teaching I can point him towards?

Many thanks in advance! :D

I was just looking to see if there was one, but I couldn't find anything...

Is there one I can't find?

If not, who would you nominate and why?

CAFOD & Other Justice Resources / CAFOD Harvest Fast Day
« on: September 06, 2011, 09:34:44 AM »
So, I'm looking at the term ahead, and one of the things I want to introduce to school is supporting the CAFOD Fast Days. The HT is keen to get these up and running too, so I'm going to get support for it, but I'm trying to come up with a good way of introducing it.

I've been trying to browse resources, but the internet is appalling at the moment, so anything with pictures or files to download is taking an age. I did manage to get the daily prayer resource, which looks good. I think I'll be using that as our daily prayer for the week.

Two things I'd like to include:
* this isn't just "ask your parents for a pound for charity day". I want to encourage them to actually give something up in order to be able to donate. I know this probably means less money, but I hope it makes more of point, and gets them thinking.
* I love the whole GIVE-ACT-PRAY thing- I want to cover all the bases, so they remember charity isn't just the money!

Anyone got any tips or pointers from past experience?

Thanks!
Clare :)

Hello lovely youth workers...

I'm looking to get hold of a dozen crucifixes, and would rather not have to spend £300 on them...

Can anyone recommend somewhere that sells nice ones that aren't ridiculously priced?

Many thanks,
Clare :)
