All very exciting and I love the choice of his name.  There's a pretty good animation video of St Francis here if anyone is looking for a resource in school about the Saint behind the name
A Day in the Life of St Francis

I've just come across some resources for unpacking the Youcat a little bit more:

1)http://www.newmanconnection.com/institute/courses/exploring-youcat which has lessons on the different chapters

2)http://catholicyouthministryresources.com/youcat-in-180-days/ - read through in 180 days with a couple of questions a day

I've yet to try either of them out.

Hello,

Just been passed on the resources for National Youth Sunday this year.  Make sure you check out their website http://www.nationalyouthsunday.org.uk/ The theme this year is "I believe" and they have produced some resources for young people around the creed.  There are also some posters and podcasts from some youth people about what their faith means to them.

Pretty sure that I went to the same school as Clare only I started in 2000, so I thought it was something which had always happened.   I also remember certain members of staff asking pupils if anyone wanted to lead it rather than just the teacher.  However, I don't recall ever exploring what the Angelus meant more it was something we did that's not to say we were never told as there's lots of things I learnt in school I wouldn't be able to tell you about today.

I looked the the Angelus this morning with a year 6 class and got them to look at yes in different languages to help them understand that the Angelus is a quite way to remind us to say yes to God like Mary did and just before we pray it to think about the ways we can say yes to God today.  Our Diocese has asked us to pray the Angelus before every Mass and prayer cards were distributed on Sunday in all parishes with the Amina Christe on the back.

I've just come across a website focusing on youth and the Year of Faith, it's still developing but definitely worth keeping an eye on thanks to the Archdiocese of Birmingham - http://www.madeforgreatness.co.uk/#.  There's also some pretty good adult resources on their adult website http://www.catholic-today.co.uk/year-of-faith including a how Catholic are you quiz/questionnaire.

Lifeteen have also produced a short great video about the Year of Faith so it's well worth checking out

Thanks for the reminder about the Youth Work magazine, you've just motivated me to sign up for it.  Still undecided about the conference, it does sounds great but I will let you know if I book a ticket.  Thanks to those who provided feedback from last year.

Sounds interesting, has anyone been in previous years?  I'm wondering if it might be worth travelling down for it.

General Catholic Youth Ministry Resources / Donut Fundraiser!
« on: January 03, 2012, 06:05:20 PM »
Hi everyone and happy new year!

Do you have a local Krispy Kreme?  Well, I have just discovered that they offer a discounted rate for fundraising events on there original glaze donuts.   http://www.krispykreme.co.uk/fundraising/raise-dough/, the minimum order is 10 dozen and if all 120 donuts were sold individually at the price they set of £1.20 it would raise just over £100 in profits.  Makes a change from a regular bun sale.  They also offer gift vouchers for the original glaze dozen at a discounted rate too.

Apologises if anyone is trying to start eating healthily in the new year!

CAFOD & Other Justice Resources / Messages of Peace
« on: November 06, 2011, 10:37:52 PM »
Hey everyone!

I've just been looking at some resources online and Cafod come up with something which I think could be a great activity - messages of peace, especially in this time of Remembrance.

You can post your own messages and look at what peace means to others.  Then you can also send them your videos of passing it on which look quite fun to make.

http://passiton.cafod.org.uk/

Hope it's of some use.
