Hi everyone!
Ive been looking on the site for jobs, resources and events for ages, but only just joined!

I'm Katharine and I'm 23. I am currently studying for a Graduate Diploma in Youth Work and Ministry at Oasis College. Took me ages to give it a go!
Before that, I did a BA (Hons) in Education Studies. I have lots of experience working with children and really wanted to start working with young people. I have been running the Children's Liturgy programme in my Church for 3 years and have various other roles including organising youth events with our young people in my small parish. Going to Flame with young people from the Deanery and can't wait!

As part of my course, I am also working in community youth centres. The best part so far though is definitely being able to work for 2 weekends at Walsingham House! It's amazing and I can't wait to head back and help out again in April.
When I graduate my ideal role would either be in youth ministry (churches or retreats) or chaplaincy.
Looking forward to hearing about and learning from the experience of others!  :)
Katharine

Hi Guys

My name is Alex, some of you may know me from Liverpool Archdiocese.  I have been involved in Chaplaincy for a number of years now, my last employment was in a sixth form as chaplaincy assistant, I'm currently reading BA(Hons) Youth Work and wish to get back into a Chaplaincy job soon :D

Yours

Alex

Great. I also liked my visits to Walsingham House with groups from my parish (back in the day).
We have seen how He makes people aware through His Word of the fact that he is calling them, offering a joy and fulfilment that comes from the discovery that they are loved by Him.

Hello, my name is Mike.   I am a division Chaplain for Evergreen Catholic Schools in Alberta Canada... A role that has me half time in a public Catholic high school, and half time in five other schools with student ts from grade 5-12.  I have been on this job only a few months, although my previous role as a parish youth minister had me visiting these schools over the last number of years. I have worked in many other youth ministry roles: parish (10 years), summer camps (five years), music ministry (sixteen years), traveling retreat teams (four years), and now I am an occasional freelance speaker and wannabe Blogger.

I consider it a real blessing to have the role I do, but I must admit that I am a little bit out of my element in this new role.  So I am moving from lurking on this site to joining the conversation...

Hello, my name is Hannah. I'm a Chaplain in Rossendale (outside Greater Manchester) and have only been in the job since September. The post its self was only created then too so we are at the very start of an exciting future.

I started part time in the high school but have now been asked to work in all 7 of our partner primary schools too, making my job into a very very FULL time post !! I have done my year at Castlerigg Manor and for the record, the Keswick nightlife was awesome ... loft withdrawls as we speak!! done lots of other bits of youthwork secular and Catholic.

 ;D

Hi Hannah... I'm Jack. We E-mailed yesterday.

Great to have you on the site. I'm also a Chaplain and an ex-Castlerigger, so you're in good company. Hoepfully ;D

I've got good memories of All Saints too. Say hi to Joe Gee for me if he's still there  :)

Hi Hannah and welcome.  I went to the Loft once with Jack and some younger folk - we didn't stay long!

Ah, I remember that well. About 2002 I think!! :)

There used to be another club in Keswick which was, if you can believe this, even worse. I forget what it was called, which is probably just as well!!
