A friend of mine - a teacher - just psted the following on Facebook:

'Just locked eyes with an ex pupil from several years ago at a zebra crossing who shook hands & bet me £50 in Y11 with utter conviction that he would be earning more than me at 21. He was wearing a McDonald's uniform with one star.'

Made me laugh. Also got me thinking a little too. A lot of young people - not most, but a lot - do seem to think that good things will just happen for them without actually having to work for it. I wonder what we as youth workers can do to tackle this?

'I take it the odds are against us and the situation is grim... Sounds like fun!'
